Courier Feedback Prevents Fraud
Secure Mail Services’ couriers are encouraged to use their initiative
and report any suspicious situations immediately to further reduce opportunities
for fraud.
An example of how this works in practice:
In July 2006 an SMS courier was about to deliver a card to a wealthy
property in SW11 6EP, when he was approached by a man who said that he
lived in the house and asked if the courier had a card to be delivered.
When asked for ID the man produced a credit card with the customer's name
upon it then jumped into a car and drove away, saying he was in a hurry.
As in the past a lady had accepted deliveries at this address and the
vehicle used by the man did not match the quality of the expensive cars
that were usually parked in the driveway, the courier reported the situation
as suspicious. The client was informed and the card was then cancelled.
